Thailand has expanded its industrial capability rapidly and become a major production country in the region. KMUTNB is the first academic institute to realize the important of providing Thailand with knowledgeable engineers in manufacturing processes and systems. The Department of Production Engineering (PE) was officially founded in October 1984.

    With support from Germany, the curriculum of the production engineering department follows the program offered in European countries, as it emphasizes on production processes, machine tool, materials science, and measurement, automation, and production planning and management.

Our mission is “To produce engineers with knowledge and skills in production engineering, conduct research and service industry for manufacturing development in global level."

Currently, the department offers Bachelor degree in Production Engineering, and Robotic Engineering and Automation System (English Program), Master degree in Production Engineering, and Ph.D. in Production Engineering.

    Following the success in engineering programs at KMUTNB and several 1st places from world rescue robotics competitions, the Robotic and Automation Engineering program was found in 2012. We welcome students with great passions in robotic and automation. We encourage students to explore wonder of machines and enjoy learning robotics and automation system to achieve their personal success. we emphasize our effort on rewarding learning experience.

     The department consists of 34 faculty, 12 supporting staffs, and more than 500 students enrolled. Our staffs are experts in several fields and their research work create great impact nationally and globally. Each year our department has contribute to society in publications, consulting and training.
Production Engineering department is well equipped with supporting facilities and resource, including computer lab, 6 machine shops/ laboratories, and 2 research centers.

      Production engineering students participated and won first place in Thailand Rescue Robot Championship in many years. In addition, in 2010 two production engineering faculties awarded international patents for their research projects.
