Institute of Technological Development for Industry is a unit equivalent to the faculty level established under the Royal Decree on the establishment of an internal government agency under King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok on July 22, 1991, in order to conduct research in industrial development and technology transfer. By linking and collaborating with institutions and agencies both domestic and foreign country to quest for new technologies to Thailand industry.

 
The university council has approved the dissolution and reorganization of the Bureau on November 23, 2011, with the following divisions:

The purpose of establishing the institution

1. To bring in resources, and equipment that are already available in the university and use them together for maximum benefit of the development of the country's industry.
2. To promote research and development in engineering science and technology to be consistent and appropriate to the advancement of the industry.     
3. To promote research and development both inside and outside of the Institute of Industrial Technology Development, that has been transferred from other sources and for the benefit of education and industry of the nation.
4. To be a coordinating center for mutual cooperation between the government and the private sector to develop technologies for the appropriate industries of the country.
5. To be a research center for analysis the manpower problem for the needs of the industry for further National Economic and Social Development Plan.
6. To support the teaching and learning of students in engineering, technology, and science to be more effective.
