The Chemical Engineering Department, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), has a long and distinguished history of successfully educating chemical engineers and engaging in high-impact research for a wide variety of industries. The department offers comprehensive facilities, including state-of-the-art lab equipment for teaching, research instrumentation, and learning classrooms. Curriculum The four-year undergraduate programs leading to the Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.) is offered in a bilingual format where selected courses are taught in English. A collaborative program with the School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science, University of Manchester, U.K., offers a dual degree format—two years of study at KMUTNB followed by two more years at the University of Manchester. A co-operative study plan combining classroom-based education with practical work experience is available. The Master of Engineering (M. Eng.) is offered as a two-year graduate program and a three-year graduate program leading a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), with degrees in chemical engineering provided. The graduate study emphasizes the enhancement of professional knowledge and interdisciplinary skills, including research techniques and practical problem solving. Qualified students may elect to enroll directly in the Ph.D. degree in the 4-year program. Research area The department is recognized as one of Thailand’s leading chemical engineering programs with a strong tradition of collaboration with industrial partners as well as government research institutions. The 2012-2013 research funding support is in excess of 10 million baht. Our faculty members have a wide range of research interests, including energy and the environment, material science, process engineering, as well as catalytic and reaction engineering. The associated research centers are: Research and Development Center for Chemical Unit Operation and Catalyst Design (RCC) Center of Aeration Research and Testing (CART) Center of Eco-material and Cleaner Technology (CECT) Renewable Product and Energy Technology Center (Renew. Tec.).
